Rio de Janeiro Airport (GIG)
Galećo-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport is the largest airport in Brazil, and the main airport serving Rio de Janeiro. Located on Governador Island, approximately 20kms north of central Rio de Janeiro, the airport offers a range of modern facilities and handles over 10 million passengers a year travelling to Rio internationally. Santos Dumont Airport (SDU)
Santos Dumont is the second major airport serving Rio de Janeiro, operating mostly national flights within Brazil.

Airport/harbour to hotel transfers
The Sofitel Hotel operates a pickup transfer service from both airports and the harbour at the following rates:
Pickup Galećo International Airport R$ 270
Pickup Santos Dumont (Domestic) Airport R$ 140
Pickup Pier Maua (Harbour) R$ 153
The above rates are for 4 people with 4 medium-sized bags. Payment for transfers is made upon check-in (cash or credit card); note that taxes of 20% are applied in the case that participants wish to pay for their transfer with their bill upon checking out.

Taxi
Galećo International Airport is 20 kms north of central Rio de Janeiro, Santos Dumont Airport is just a few blocks from the centre. Taxis are available (executive taxis in blue and red operate to and from airports) and payment is by pre-paid vouchers at airport kiosks.
Bus
Real Auto Ōnibus operates the Executive Bus Service number 2018 every half hour from 5.30am to 22.30pm from Galećo Airport to Rio de Janeiro centre, Santos Dumont Airport and other southern parts of the city.
Visa Information
Nationals from some countries often need neither a tourist visa nor a business visa to enter Brazil. The list of exempted countries may change without prior notice and it’s important to check with the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate whose jurisdiction you live in whether your country is really exempted.
