Philip Plisson began his career as a photographer in 1973 and specialized in maritime photography.
With 35 year of experience of writing about the sea, he published 66 books devoted to the sea. Today there are more than 3 million of his illustrations picturing the ocean, which can be found in French households. The image of the storm on the “Pointe des Poulains” in Belle Isle, produced in 1996 sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. The book "La Mer" published in 13 languages sold over 500,000 copies and these are two of his finest pieces of work.
In 1991, Philip Plisson joined the Corps of Marine Painters by Pierre Joxe, French Minister of Defense.
Philip Plisson, President of the 2013 Sport Book Awards, will appoint together with the jury members the two finest Illustrated Sport Books of this year.
