Mike has worked in broadcasting for over 30 years.

During 24 years at the BBC he rose to become the Head of Sport and Outside Broadcasts and, as Senior Rights Negotiator, worked across TV, Radio and Online negotiating deals with sports bodies such as the Premier League, the FA, Formula One, the ECB, the RFU, Wimbledon, the R&A and boxing promoters Don King and Frank Warren.

In 1993 he formed part of the management team that launched Radio Five Live where he was Deputy Controller and Controller Radio Sports Rights. He also ran the BBC's Social Action campaign "Your Game", a nationwide 5-a-side football tournament for disadvantaged youngsters. During his time in BBC Radio Mike won two Sony Gold Awards.

He left the BBC in 2007 and is now a Director of Avenue53 Consulting, which offers strategic advice on broadcasting, media rights and communications.
Clients have included Channel 4, talkSPORT, Radio 4FM in Dublin, IMG, Reel Enterprises, Major Events International, the Amateur Boxing Association and the League Managers Association.

His journalism career began in regional newspapers before he moved into broadcasting at LBC/IRN where he became the Sports Editor.
